Congress Declares National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week 2010

H. Res 1472 designates the week of September 13-17, National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.


On June 23rd, MDTESOL joined WATESOL for TESOL's 5th annual Advocacy Day. The focus this year was on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act(ESEA)ADVOCACY DAY 2010

Last year for Advocacy Day we went to Capitol Hill to discuss the Workforce Investment Act(WIA)ADVOCACY DAY 2009

In March, the Board of Directors issued a 10 point position statement on Adult English as Second or Additional Language Programs AES/ALPPOSITION STATEMENT

Citing Census data from countries where English is the primary language, an increasingly number of respondents indicated that they spoke English "less than well".  As a result, the Board recommends countries implement inclusive programs and systems from the stakeholder down to the level of the ESL/ELL.
