WATESOL Job Bank

The Job Bank provides a free listing service for employers seeking ESOL teachers and WATESOL members seeking employment.  Many of the job postings are part-time and/or temporary positions, and many need to be filled immediately.  Higher Ed. teachers should note that requests from college/university programs tend to be cyclical, with last minute requests often occurring at the beginning of the semester.  The procedure for using the Job Bank is simple.

JOB SEEKERS

I.   Make sure that your WATESOL membership is current.  If you wish to join WATESOL, renew your membership, or inquire about your current status, please contact:

Joe Bellino
WATESOL
Montgomery Blair H.S.

Silver Spring, MD 20901
jbellino@mbhs.edu

II.  WATESOL MEMBERS WITHOUT E-MAIL:

  • Print out the Job Bank Registration/ Data form.
  • Mail the completed Job Bank Registration/Data form, a CV, and five self-addressed, stamped, legal-size envelopes to the Coordinator (see below).
  • The Coordinator will inform you when your last envelope is used.  You may continue to receive job listings by sending more stamped envelopes as long as your WATESOL membership is current.
WATESOL MEMBERS WITH E-MAIL:
  • A mailing list has been set up.  To subscribe, you should send an e-mail message to majordomo@mail.serve.com
  • In the body of the message, type:
subscribe watesoljobs
III. Job listings and other employment information will first be sent electronically to watesoljobs@watesol.org, then by regular mail to members without e-mail.  The Coordinator will send all job information to all job bank members; you may follow up on jobs that interest you.

IV.  If a prospective employer needs to fill a position in a very short period of time, the Coordinator will search the Job Bank Registration/Data forms for appropriate candidates and telephone or e-mail them.  Please be sure that the information on your Registration/Data Form is up-to-date.

V.  In the event that you are hired for a job through a Job Bank contact, please share the good news with the mailing list (if you are a member with e-mail) or call the Coordinator (if you are a member without e-mail).

EMPLOYERS

You do not need to be a WATESOL member to list a job with the Job Bank.

IF YOU ARE A NON-MEMBER:
I. Contact the Job Bank Coordinator by e-mail, regular mail, or phone.

II.  In most cases, you will need to prepare a job description that can be sent out to Job Bank members.

III.  E-mailing the job description to the Coordinator is the quickest way for job listings to reach Job Bank members as it can be forwarded right away.  You can also arrange to FAX your job description to the Coordinator.

IV. The Coordinator will send all job information to all members unless you request otherwise.  If you need to fill a position in a very short period of time, the Coordinator will search the Job Bank Registration/Data Forms for appropriate candidates and telephone or e-mail them.  The Coordinator will also advertise the Job Bank and current job listings (if appropriate) at the WATESOL Fall and Spring Conventions.

V. In the event that you hire a WATESOL member through the Job Bank, please inform the Coordinator.

IF YOU ARE A CURRENT WATESOL MEMBER:

I.  You may post the job yourself by subscribing to the watesoljobs mailing list (follow directions for JOB SEEKERS/WATESOL MEMBERS WITH E-MAIL).

II.You also have the option of listing the job through the Coordinator (follow the steps above for NON-MEMBERS).
