Serve on the WATESOL Board

Nominate yourself or a colleague for a WATESOL Board position!  Being on the WATESOL Board is a rewarding experience.  Board members gain leadership experience through serving the needs of the WATESOL community.

Board positions open for nomination are listed below (responsibilities start October 2018).  If interested for yourself, or if you would like to nominate a colleague, contact Heather Tatton-Harris at pastpresident@watesol.org by Friday, July 13th.  The voting ballot will go out on August 1st for a 30-day members-only voting period.

All positions are a two year commitment starting in October 2018, except VP Transitional.  The VP Transitional is a one-year commitment as VP, transitioning into one year as President, and one year as Past President.

  • VP Transitional - For the first year, this role involves supporting the overall running of the organization, as well as liaising with vendors for the conference and PD workshops.  The second year, this person continues as President, and in the third year, Past President.

  • Recording Secretary - Manage documentation of the meeting minutes, and overall file organization, including archives.

  • PD Co-Chairs - Plan Professional Development events throughout the year and oversee the organization and execution of the fall conference.

  • Advocacy Co-Chair - Lead the Advocacy Committee, maintain updated advocacy information for members on the website, and plan for the yearly TESOL Advocacy Summit.

  • Newsletter Co-Chair - Publish the WATESOL Newsletter three times per year.

  • NNEST Liaison - Maintain active engagement of the NNEST Caucus and liaise and coordinate with the WATESOL Board.

  • K12 Special Interest Group (SIG) Chair - Plan PD spring events that correspond with the needs of the SIG, and plan SIG events for the fall conference.
